Preparation

A separate timing summary is not recorded. Check the saved instructions or current package.

Saved instructions are reproduced below. Follow the current package or recipe if it differs.

  1. Step 1

Preheat the oven to 450°F. Rinse and dry the sweet potatoes. Wrap each in a damp paper towel. Microwave on high 9-11 minutes until slightly tender. Place the beef in a bowl; season. Gently mix. Form into two 1/2-inch-thick patties; season both sides with up to half the spice blend. Transfer to one side of the tray. Place the partially cooked sweet potatoes on the other side; drizzle with olive oil and season. Bake uncovered 10 minutes. Remove from the oven (leave oven on).

  2. Step 2

Carefully flip the partially cooked patties; top evenly with the cheese. Return to the oven uncovered 5-7 minutes until the sweet potatoes are fork-tender, the cheese is melted, and the patties are cooked through. USDA minimum: 160°F for beef.

  3. Step 3

Wrap the buns in foil and place on an oven rack. Warm 5-7 minutes until heated through. Build the burgers with the warmed buns, barbecue sauce, cooked patties, pickles, and crispy onions. Halve the baked sweet potatoes lengthwise. Serve with the burgers. Top the sweet potatoes with sour cream and as many peppers as you like.
