I founded MealFan in 2014 after spending years researching meal delivery as a customer. Today I personally test, photograph, and rate every meal delivery service we cover. Reviews are based on my own card and my own kitchen.

How I review

I order every service on a regular consumer plan, not a comped influencer box. Each service runs for at least 4 weeks across multiple delivery zones, with photos at unboxing, prep, and plate. Pricing reflects published rates after intro periods, not headline promo numbers.

What I have tested

As of 2026, I have ordered from and rated 24 active meal delivery services across the United States. Coverage spans meal kits (HelloFresh, Blue Apron, Home Chef), premade (Factor, CookUnity, Daily Harvest), specialty diet (Sun Basket, Green Chef, Purple Carrot, Trifecta), and senior-focused (Magic Kitchen). Every service is re-verified at least annually.

Expertise

Background in startups and operations. I cofounded a food logistics company prior to MealFan, which gave me practical exposure to cold chain delivery, route optimization, and packaging design. That experience informs how I evaluate freshness, packaging integrity, and the trade-offs between meal kits and premade delivery.

MealFan earns affiliate commissions when readers sign up through our links. We disclose this on every review. Affiliate revenue does not influence rankings. Several services we recommend pay no commission at all. Several services that pay top commission rank poorly because their meals fell short during testing.
