What I'm scoring on

Four things matter when you're picking a meal delivery service in a specific city. Here's how I weight them:

35%
Coverage
Does it actually deliver to YOUR address? I check downtown, suburbs, and everywhere in between. A service that only covers downtown but can't reach the suburbs loses points.
25%
Value
What you actually pay after the intro discount ends. The "starting at $4.69" price is real, but I also tell you what month 2 looks like.
20%
Variety
Will you get bored after two weeks? Some services rotate 300+ dishes. Others give you the same 15 meals on loop. Big difference.
20%
Ease
How easy is it to sign up, skip a week, or cancel without jumping through hoops? If I need 3 phone calls to pause my subscription, that's a problem.

Every service is scored out of 100. Full transparency: some of the links on this page are affiliate links, which means I earn a commission if you sign up. But that never changes the rankings. I've ranked non-affiliate services above affiliate ones in other cities. The methodology is the same everywhere.

This is the one I kept reordering. 100+ plant-based meals from actual award-winning chefs, not just the same three sad veggie bowls every week. I tested delivery to a Lincoln Square apartment and a house in North Arlington. Both times, the Korean BBQ jackfruit and the Ethiopian lentil stew showed up actually tasting like someone who cares about food made them. 15-25g protein per meal, which matters when you're vegan in a city where people think plants can't have protein. The variety is what Dallas vegans get at restaurants. You're getting it delivered to Arlington.

If you're the type who reads ingredient labels at Sprouts on Arkansas Lane, Sunbasket is your speed. 98% organic, dietitian-designed, actually clean ingredients. The problem is they only have 1-2 truly vegan meals per week according to what I saw testing in Arlington. Everything else is vegetarian with dairy or eggs you have to work around. The quality is legit, the vegan selection is weak. Better for vegetarians who eat cheese than vegans who don't.

I work near AT&T Stadium and Factor saved me from eating another $15 vegan burger from the food court. 10+ vegan meals weekly, microwave for 2 minutes, eat something that doesn't taste like cardboard. The vegan + protein plus filter gets you 20g+ protein meals, which is harder to find than you'd think. Delivered to every Arlington ZIP I checked, including out past Pantego where some services ghost you. The vegan selection is limited compared to their meat options, but what they have is solid. Lasts 5-7 days in the fridge, so you can order Monday and eat through Friday without thinking.

Blue Apron
0/100
Starting at
$7.99/meal

Cook time
Meals/week

Blue Apron has some vegetarian options but the vegan selection is hit or miss week to week. You have to actually cook these, 30-40 minutes, which is fine if you like cooking but defeats the convenience factor. I tested it at a Cooper Street apartment near UTA. The recipes are good when they have vegan options, global flavors, but you're looking at maybe 2-3 truly vegan meals per week max. Better for vegetarians or flexitarians. If you're dedicated vegan, CookUnity gives you way more options for similar price.

Home Chef is meat-focused, full stop. I found maybe 1-2 vegetarian options per week and most of those had cheese or eggs. Not worth it if you're vegan. Better for families eating omnivore with one vegan member who can find something occasionally. The Kroger backing means Arlington coverage is solid, but coverage doesn't matter when there's nothing to order.

Dinnerly is the budget king for omnivores. For vegans, it's a wasteland. Maybe 1-2 vegan options per week if you're lucky, and they're basic. Like sad pasta with vegetables basic. The $4.99/meal price is tempting when you're broke, but you can't order a full week of vegan meals. You'll end up supplementing with grocery store runs anyway, which defeats the point. Better to just cook at home or hit the Indian spots on Cooper Street for $8-10 meals.

Local Context
Arlington's Food Identity: Why This City Is Different

Arlington's food culture is one of the most distinctive in the U.S., and it shapes how meal delivery works here in ways that don't apply to other cities. Understanding this helps you pick the right service.

The Arlington hack: Use a national service for weeknight convenience, and order from a local Arlington service for weekend meals when you want farm-fresh, locally sourced food. Best of both worlds.

Why meal delivery matters in Arlington right now

$ $ $ Save Stack discounts Rotate Services

The money hacks nobody tells you about

1

Stack intro discounts like a pro

Factor's 50% off, CookUnity's 25% off, Dinnerly's 60% off, don't use all three at once. Use Factor for your first two weeks, pause it. Jump to CookUnity, get their discount. Then Dinnerly. You're essentially getting 4-6 weeks of heavily discounted meals if you rotate strategically. After the intro period, stick with whoever fits your budget best.

2

Stop looking at the box price

A "$50 box" sounds reasonable until you realize it's only four meals for two people. That's $6.25/serving, not $50 total. Factor at $11.49/meal is more expensive than Dinnerly at $4.69/meal, but both are cheaper than Uber Eats markup. Do the math before you subscribe.

3

Check your Uber Eats history (it's worse than you think)

Track what you'd spend on Uber Eats, DoorDash, or local pickup over two weeks. Honestly track it. If you're averaging $40/day ($560/month), even Factor at full price ($11.49 × 4 meals × 7 days = $322/month) is a win. If you're eating cheap tacos most nights ($8/day), meal delivery costs more.

4

Your job might literally pay for this

Major employers, hospital systems, tech companies, and other large employers have started offering meal delivery credits (anywhere from $25-100/month). Ask HR. Some cover meal kits as a wellness benefit. If you can get even partial subsidy, the math gets way better.

5

The pause button is your best friend

Traveling to Memphis for a weekend? Your family's coming to town and eating out. Broke week. Use the pause button instead of canceling. Pause for one or two weeks, then restart. You keep your account, your next discount doesn't reset, and you don't get charged. Most people don't know this exists.

Real talk: should you even get meal delivery?

I'm not going to pretend meal delivery is for everyone. Here's when it makes sense and when it doesn't:

It's worth it if..
  • You spend $150+/month on delivery apps and hate it
  • You work long hours and eat garbage because you're too tired to cook
  • You live in the suburbs and driving to restaurants takes 20+ minutes
  • You're trying to eat healthier but don't know where to start
  • You meal prep on Sundays but run out by Wednesday (every single time)
Skip it if..
  • You genuinely enjoy cooking and grocery shopping
  • You live walking distance from great, cheap food
  • You eat most meals at work (free lunch, cafeteria, etc.)
  • You're on an extremely tight budget (under $200/month for all food)
  • You have very specific dietary needs not covered by any service

No shade either way. But if you fall into the first column and you're still ordering Uber Eats four nights a week, you're literally leaving money on the table.

Questions everyone asks

What is the best vegan & plant-based meal delivery in Arlington, TX? +
CookUnity is the best vegan meal delivery in Arlington with 100+ plant-based options weekly from award-winning chefs, starting at $10.39/meal. They deliver to all Arlington ZIP codes from Downtown to Pantego. Factor is the best ready-to-eat option with 10+ vegan meals weekly at $10.99-$12.99/meal if you want zero cooking.
How much does vegan meal delivery cost in Arlington? +
Vegan meal delivery in Arlington costs $10.39-$13.59 per meal for CookUnity's chef-made options, or $10.99-$12.99 for Factor's ready-to-eat meals. That's cheaper than ordering vegan food via UberEats from Loving Hut, which runs $18-24 per meal after fees and tip. Fire Dept. Meals offers local plant-based options with subscription discounts up to 20%.
Are there local vegan & plant-based meal prep services in Arlington? +
Fire Dept. Meals is the only verified local plant-based meal delivery service in Arlington, offering 12 vegan meals weekly with organic produce and zero seed oils. They ship UPS on Tuesdays and cover all of Arlington and Tarrant County. Most other options are national services that deliver to Arlington or catering companies like One Great Vegan that focus on events rather than weekly meal prep.
Is vegan meal delivery cheaper than cooking vegan at home in Arlington? +
Cooking vegan at home in Arlington costs $60-85 weekly for groceries at Sprouts or H-E-B, not counting your time for shopping and meal prep. CookUnity costs $62-95 for 6 vegan meals plus one delivery fee, comparable to grocery costs but with way more variety and zero cooking. It's definitely cheaper than ordering vegan delivery apps, which run $80-112 weekly for just 4 meals from Loving Hut or ITSO Vegan.
Which meal delivery service has the most vegan options? +
CookUnity has the most vegan options with 100+ plant-based meals weekly from over 100 chefs. Factor has 10+ vegan options weekly. Sunbasket only offers 1-2 dedicated vegan meals per week. Home Chef and Dinnerly have minimal vegan selection and aren't worth it if you're eating fully plant-based.
Can I get vegan & plant-based meal delivery in Pantego, Dalworthington Gardens, or North Arlington? +
Yes. Factor and CookUnity both deliver to all Arlington suburbs including Pantego, Dalworthington Gardens, and North Arlington. I tested delivery to multiple ZIP codes from 76001 to 76019 and both services reached every address. Fire Dept. Meals ships UPS to all of Tarrant County including Arlington suburbs.
What vegan meals can I get from Factor in Arlington? +
Factor offers 10+ vegan meals weekly with options like vegan + protein plus meals (20g+ protein), vegan + calorie smart combinations, and ready-to-eat plant-based bowls. Specific menu rotates weekly but I've seen chipotle-style bowls, Asian-inspired stir-fries, and Mediterranean grain bowls. All microwave in 2 minutes and last 5-7 days in the fridge.
Is vegan meal delivery worth it in Arlington? +
Vegan meal delivery is worth it in Arlington if you're spending $80+ weekly on delivery apps from the limited local vegan restaurants, or if you work long hours at AT&T Stadium, GM Assembly, or Texas Health and have zero time to cook. It's not worth it if you live near Loving Hut or Down to Earth Vegan Kitchen, enjoy cooking, and can meal prep vegan food for $60-85 weekly from Sprouts.
