The catch

The Original has 7g of added sugar per cup, so pick the Unsweetened version at 0g sugar if you want to keep it clean. (source)

The honest take

Silk Almondmilk is the flagship shelf stable and refrigerated almond milk, and the version you grab matters a lot. The Original pours a light 60 calories a cup but carries 7g of added sugar from cane sugar, which is nearly all of its 8g of carbs, while the Unsweetened version drops to 30 calories with 0g sugar. Either way you get only 1g of protein per cup, so this is a low calorie dairy swap for cereal, coffee, and smoothies rather than a real protein source. The ingredient list is clean and short with no carrageenan, and the calcium fortification lands at 470mg or 35 percent of daily value per cup.
