The catch

The 270mg of sodium looks modest only because the label serving is a small quarter cup, so using half a jar over rice and chicken puts you closer to 810mg. (source)

The honest take

This is a jarred butter chicken base built on genuinely recognizable ingredients like real butter, cream, tomato paste and ginger, with only 3g of total sugar and 1g added sugar per quarter cup. For a creamy restaurant style sauce it is refreshingly light on the junk, with tapioca starch as the only thickener and no gums or artificial flavors. It does lean on dairy fat, so each small serving carries 3g of saturated fat, and safflower oil sits midway down the list if you steer clear of seed oils. Overall one of the cleaner shortcuts to butter chicken you can buy in a jar.
