The honest take

This is a mayo made with 100 percent avocado oil instead of the soybean or canola oil in most jars, which is the main reason a health minded shopper reaches for it. The ingredient list stays short and clean, cage free egg yolks, water, vinegar, salt and lime, with zero grams of sugar and 90 milligrams of sodium per tablespoon. It is still mayonnaise though, roughly 90 to 100 calories of nearly pure fat in a single tablespoon, so treat it as a cleaner oil swap rather than a health food. At around 10 to 13 dollars a jar it also costs a good deal more than conventional mayo.

Sir Kensington's is the condiment brand I switched to for cleaner ingredients without giving up taste. The avocado-oil mayo skips the seed oils, and the flavor actually holds up. It costs more than the yellow-cap stuff, and that is the honest tradeoff for what is in the jar.
