The honest take

This is barley and nothing else, one clean ingredient with 5g of fiber, 5g of protein, and zero sodium or added sugar per 48g serving. For a health minded shopper it is a cheap, wholesome swap for rice or pasta that cooks in about 10 minutes and works in soups, salads, and grain bowls. The honest caveat is that it is pearled, so the outer bran has been polished off, which makes it a refined grain rather than a true whole grain like hulled barley. It also contains gluten, so it is off limits for anyone eating gluten free.
