It is lite by comparison only, still delivering 490mg of sodium per tablespoon which is about 20 percent of the daily value. (source)
The honest take
This is San J's gluten free tamari brewed down to 50 percent less sodium, and the ingredient list stays refreshingly short at water, soybeans, salt, alcohol, lactic acid, and rice vinegar with no added sugar and no seed oils. At 490mg of sodium per tablespoon it still lands around 20 percent of a full day in one pour, so lite means cut in half, not actually low. For a soy sauce lover who wants real fermented flavor and a wheat free option, it is one of the cleaner picks on the shelf, and each tablespoon runs just 10 calories with under 1g of carbs. If you are on a strict sodium budget you will still want to measure it rather than free pour.

San-J Tamari is my swap for regular soy sauce, especially the gluten-free one. Brewed properly, richer flavor, and the reduced-sodium version helps since soy sauce is a salt bomb by nature. A simple pantry upgrade I do not think twice about.
