The catch

Nearly all of the 5 grams of carbs per tablespoon are added sugar from high fructose corn syrup, so the sugar adds up quickly if you use more than a small squeeze. (source)

The honest take

This is the ketchup most people grew up on, and the label is honest about what it is. One tablespoon is 20 calories with 4 grams of sugar, and the third ingredient is high fructose corn syrup followed by more corn syrup, so nearly all of the 5 grams of carbs are added sugar. It works fine as a condiment in small amounts, but the sugar and roughly 160 milligrams of sodium climb fast once you go past a single tablespoon.
