The catch

The first ingredient is a sweetener and each bar has 8g of added sugar against only 5g of protein, so this is more organic snack than protein bar. (source)

The honest take

This is a kids lunchbox bar (formerly Clif Kid ZBar Protein) built on organic oats, whey and a little pea protein, and it is genuinely USDA Organic, gluten free, non GMO and free of high fructose corn syrup. The catch is the sweetness: the very first ingredient is organic tapioca syrup, and each 36g bar carries 8g of added sugar against only 5g of protein. It is a reasonable organic step up from candy or a standard granola bar for a child, but the word protein oversells it. A health minded adult looking for a real protein snack will do better elsewhere.
