The catch

Despite the wholesome Larabar name it carries 5 grams of added sugar from honey, maple syrup and chocolate chips, and just 5 grams of protein per 30 gram bar. (source)

The honest take

This is not the classic three ingredient Larabar. The Trail Mix line stacks honey, maple syrup and chocolate chips on top of the peanuts and almonds, so one 30 gram bar carries 5 grams of added sugar and only 5 grams of protein. It still leans on real nuts, uses coconut oil instead of a seed oil, and is gluten free and Non GMO Project Verified, which puts it ahead of most candy style bars. Reach for it when you want a nut forward snack with a little chocolate, just do not treat it as a low sugar or high protein option.
