The catch

The label reads 90 calories and 5g added sugar per serving, but that is dry mix only, so your finished muffin has more once you add the eggs and oil the recipe calls for. (source)

The honest take

This is a grain free almond flour baking mix, not a ready to eat snack, so the 90 calorie panel with 5g added sugar is for the dry mix only and you still stir in eggs and oil or butter before baking. The ingredient list is genuinely short and clean at 8 items, almond flour and banana lead it, and the only added sweetener is organic coconut sugar with no gums, seed oils, or sugar alcohols in the box. For a health minded baker who wants a gluten free treat with real recognizable ingredients, it is a solid pantry pick, but at 2g protein and 2g fiber per serving it is a dessert style bake, not a protein or fiber play.
