The catch

A full drained can carries 360 mg of sodium, about 16 percent of the daily value, so it is not a low sodium choice. (source)

The honest take

This is about as simple as pantry protein gets, just light tuna, water, vegetable broth, and salt, with no seed oils, no sugar, and no added junk. One drained 5 ounce can gives you 20 grams of protein for 90 calories, which is a strong ratio for well under two dollars. Being skipjack rather than albacore, it also sits on the FDA best choices list for lower mercury, so it is a sensible weekly staple. The one thing to watch is salt, since the whole can carries 360 mg of sodium.
