The catch

Nothing sneaky in the can, just sea salt bringing 280mg of sodium per serving, about 12 percent of a day, plus a strong fishy taste that is an acquired one. (source)

The honest take

This is about as clean as canned protein gets, with an ingredient list of just sardines, water, and sea salt and 18g of protein for 140 calories per 3oz can. You also get roughly 1,800mg of EPA and DHA omega 3 and a real calcium hit from the soft edible bones, with zero sugar and zero carbs. Sardines are a small, short lived fish, so mercury runs low, and Wild Planet is Non GMO Verified and sustainably caught. The honest reality is the strong fishy flavor and visible bones and skin are an acquired taste, so this is a health win only if you actually enjoy eating it.
